Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai

Sweet pidi kozhukattai is simple and easy to make, steam cooked food.Usually I make this for third day of Ganesh chathurti pooja. This can be made with freshly ground rice or processed rice flour.Today I made with freshly ground  rice batter and offered as a prasadham to God.

Ingredients

IngredientQuantity
Idly rice or boiled rice 1cup
Jaggery 1/2cup
Coconut(grated)1/2cup
Cardamom(elaichi)4-5nos.
Salt1/2tsp

Method

Soak the rice for 2-3 hours and grind it to fine paste with salt and cardamom,by adding little water.Melt the jaggery with little water, strain it and add to the ground batter and mix it well.

Heat a pan, fry the grated coconut for a while and add the ground batter to it.

Stir it continously till it reaches a dough like consistency.Turn off the stove and let it cool and smooth out the dough once it becomes cool down.

Pinch out a small lemon sized batter and keep in the palm and close finger tightly to make fist.(as shown in the picture)

Continue it for the rest of the batter and arrange it in a idly plate and steam for 10-15 minutes.

Kozhukattai is ready, drizzle it with little ghee and serve it warm.

Enjoy..........................................
  • Chopped coconut pieces can be used instead of grated coconut.
  • Wet the hand with water if the dough sticks while pressing or grease the hand with little oil or ghee.
